What exactly are 3D plaster wall panels?
Real gypsum plaster panels with sculpted relief patterns — not foam, not PVC, not printed wallpaper. Each panel is 19.7″ × 19.7″ (≈2.7 sqf), manufactured in our NJ studio, and installed with professional-grade bonding compound for a seamless, permanent finish. Light moving across them creates depth you can't get from flat paint or wallpaper.
Can I paint them?
Yes. All panels ship paint-ready in white gypsum. They accept any latex or acrylic paint beautifully and keep their full texture. Our most popular finishes are matte white, soft warm whites, and off-blacks for dramatic accent walls.
How long will the panels last?
Real gypsum plaster is an architectural material built to last for decades. Unlike wallpaper that peels, foam panels that yellow, or PVC that warps over time, our plaster walls hold their texture, color, and finish for the lifetime of your wall. This is a permanent upgrade to your space, not a decoration you'll need to replace in a few years.
How do I clean and maintain them?
Maintenance is simple. Dust the panels regularly with a soft cloth, microfiber duster, or vacuum brush attachment — same as you would any architectural detail. For painted panels, you can spot-clean with a slightly damp cloth. No special cleaning products, sealants, or yearly treatments needed. The panels don't collect dust more than a flat wall would.
What happens if a panel gets damaged?
In the rare case a panel is damaged (heavy impact, water leak, moving furniture, etc.), we can replace individual panels without redoing the entire wall. Each panel has a model code (LW-001, LW-006, etc.) — contact us with the code and we'll match it exactly from our NJ studio. Because we manufacture every panel ourselves, we can always produce a replacement that matches your original installation.
How many panels will I need?
Each panel covers ~2.7 sqf (19.7″ × 19.7″). For a 10ft × 9ft wall (90 sqf), that's around 34 panels. We always calculate exactly for your space in the quote — no guessing.
Do you install or do I have to find someone?
It depends on the client’s preference. You can purchase the panels from Lux 3D Walls and have your own technician handle the installation, or our team can take care of the full installation for you. We offer both options to make the process as convenient as possible.
Where can I install these panels? Can they go in a bathroom?
Our panels are designed for dry interior walls — living rooms, bedrooms, offices, dining rooms, foyers, hallways, retail spaces, restaurants, salons, and reception areas. They work beautifully in bathrooms on dry walls away from water (vanity wall, entry wall, toilet wall). Panels must NOT be installed in direct water contact areas — inside shower enclosures, tub surrounds, behind kitchen sinks, or any surface where water sprays or runs. Gypsum plaster is not waterproof. For outdoor use, covered patios, pools, or basement areas with moisture concerns, contact us first — we'll advise whether your specific location is suitable.
How long does installation take?
Most residential feature walls are completed in one day. Larger commercial jobs (restaurants, lobbies, salons) can take 2–4 days depending on complexity.
How is pricing calculated?
Pricing is $60–$70/sqf fully installed in NJ & NY, depending on the panel design you choose. This covers panels, professional installation by our crew, seam finishing, a 5-year installation warranty, and a 10-year product warranty. It does not include lighting, electrical work, paint, or major wall repairs. Your final quote depends on wall dimensions and site access. See our Pricing section for the full breakdown.
What if I don't love it after installation?
You won't be surprised. That's why we offer a sample kit before any commitment — you hold the real panel in your hand first. Our installation work is covered by a 5-year warranty and panels by a 10-year product warranty, and we do not leave a project until you're satisfied.
Do you serve outside NJ and NY?
Installation: NJ and NY only. We install with our own crew exclusively in New Jersey and New York. Panel orders: shipped nationwide. If you're outside NJ/NY, you can purchase panels through our Trade Program and arrange your own installation through your contractor or designer. Shipping is calculated based on order size and destination — contact us for a custom quote.

Lighting Design
Lighting brings the texture to life.
Real plaster catches and holds light differently than any flat surface. The right lighting setup turns a beautiful wall into an architectural feature. Here's what we recommend you discuss with your electrician.
Wall-grazing LED strip
A warm-white LED strip mounted on the ceiling 6–10 inches from the wall, casting light downward. This grazes across the plaster relief and creates the dramatic shadow play our clients love most.
Recessed cove lighting
Concealed inside a ceiling cove or floating shelf above the wall, this is the most refined option — the light source is invisible, only the texture is seen. Best for high-end installations.
Angled spot lights
Adjustable downlights or track heads aimed at the wall at a 30° angle from above. Gives you flexibility to highlight specific panels or zones.
Pro tip: Use 2700K–3000K (warm white) LED for that golden, museum-style glow. Cooler white (4000K+) makes plaster look flat and clinical. We're happy to share lighting layouts that have worked well on past installations — just ask during your quote.
Note: Lighting and electrical work are not included with your wall installation and should be handled by a licensed electrician. We craft and install the plaster wall itself.
